Hockey India announces probable group for women’s hockey team

New Delhi, January 14 (Agency) Hockey India has announced the probable group for the senior women’s team, which will play major international tournaments this year. The group was selected after a selection trial at the Sports Authority of India Center in Bengaluru. Based on their performance in various national level tournaments, 60 players were called for trials. In a release from Hockey India, Indian team head coach Yaneke Schopman said, “It is time to start afresh and strategize for the future. After the experience gained from the Tokyo Olympics, we have to continue to perform better. Eyes are on Paris Olympics 2024. Under the captaincy of Savita Poonia, India’s 18-member team will go to Muscat to play the Asia Cup. The rest of the players will stay in the camp and prepare for next month’s FIH Hockey Pro League matches in Bhubaneswar.
