Sindhu in semi-finals, Satwik-Chirag pair shines

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu of India defeated Sim Yujin of South Korea to enter the semi-finals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 badminton tournament.

Men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Malaysia’s Goh Je Fei and Noor Izuddin in straight games 21-19, 21-19 to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Defending world champion and third seed PV Sindhu beat Yujin 14-21, 21-19, 21-14 in an hour and six minutes in the quarterfinals. She will now face second seed Intanon Rechanok of Thailand. India’s B Sai Praneeth will take on Olympic champion and former world number one Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the men’s singles quarterfinals. Ranked 16th in the world rankings, Praneeth defeated France’s 70th-ranked Christo Popov 21-17, 14-21, 21-19. On the other hand, the match against Yujin was not easy for PV Sindhu. The pair of Satwik and Chirag beat the Malaysian pair in 43 minutes in the men’s doubles quarterfinals.
