Sindhu and Praneeth in the quarterfinals, Srikanth lost

Top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and B Sai Praneeth entered the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 badminton tournament here on Thursday but former champion Kidambi Srikanth was knocked out in the second round.

Reigning world champion and third seed Sindhu defeated world No. 26 Euvonne Li of Germany 21-12, 21-18 in 37 minutes. Praneeth defeated Christo Popov (ranked 70th) of France 21-17 14-21 21-19 in a match that lasted one hour and 23 minutes. The world number 16 Indian will now face Olympic champion and former number one Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.

Second seed Axelsen defeated Srikanth 21-14 21-18 in 37 minutes. Sixth seeded men’s pair of Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty registered a thrilling win over the Korean pair.
