Nine days ago, the ruckus over the encounter in Hyderpora, Srinagar had not even cooled down that now questions are being raised on the encounter that took place in Rambagh area of Srinagar yesterday. In view of the increasing ruckus, the administration has imposed an undeclared curfew in about 30 areas of Srinagar by shutting down internet service and deploying additional security personnel. On this encounter also Mehbooba Mufti has now raised questions and said that the action of the security forces raises doubts.
On the second day of the encounter in Rambagh area, mobile internet service has been snapped at more than 30 places. The agencies have taken this step in view of the nuisance and to stop the violence. The police claimed that some anti-social elements are trying to instigate people by publicizing the video after this encounter. After the encounter on Wednesday, some locals had staged a protest. Taking restraint, the security forces sent them back after mild resistance.
According to official information, Srinagar’s Bori Kadal, Habbakadal, Khaniyar, SR Gang, MR Gang, Jadibal, Nowshara, Fateh Kadal, Karan Nagar, Idgah, Kamarwari, Soura, Rainawari, Bagyas, Nowhatta, Haval, Malartha, Anchor, Syed Pora , Jammlatta, Hazratbal, Nawakadal, Safakadal, Ahmednagar, Bushpora, Haval, Noorbagh, Zakura, Pandach, Saidakadal, Nagin, Hazratbal, Jainmar mobile service has been suspended as a precautionary measure.
According to IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar, information was received yesterday that three terrorists were going to the airport road from Jehangir Chowk in a car. After getting information about this, special teams of CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police took a position under Rambagh flyover. When the security forces tried to stop the terrorists in the WagonR car, they tried to run away while firing. But alert security forces exercised restraint in the busy area and killed all three in a brief encounter.
The place where the encounter took place is a very crowded area. As it was evening time there was a lot of traffic on the road. The IG claimed that the security forces achieved this success by taking limited and precise action. During this, there was a situation of stampede in the area for some time. TRF Commander Mehran, who was killed in this encounter, was involved in the killing of a teacher and a female Sikh principal by entering the school in Idgah area of Srinagar.
In a tweet, Mehbooba Mufti had cast doubt on the legitimacy of this encounter, saying that according to eyewitnesses, the firing in this encounter was only one-sided. However, IG Kashmir did not react to Mehbooba’s tweet.
