Navy inducts submarine INS Vela into service

The Indian Navy inducted the submarine INS Vela into service here on Thursday, adding to the country’s naval power. The Indian Navy is to induct a total of 6 submarines under the Kalvari class submarine Project-75. INS Vela is the fourth submarine of this class inducted into service. The submarine was commissioned into service in the presence of Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh. Earlier, the Navy had commissioned the warship INS Visakhapatnam on 21 November. Thus the Navy has achieved two ‘accomplishments’ in the form of INS Vela after INS Visakhapatnam in a week.
