Islamabad, October 21 (Agency)Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and ISI chief Faiz Hameed arrived in Kabul on Thursday to hold talks with the interim government of Afghanistan led by the Taliban. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, during the one-day visit, the Pakistani delegation will hold talks with the acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaki. In addition, the delegation will meet the leadership of the Interim Government of Kabul and other Afghan leaders. Muttaki welcomed the Pakistani delegation at the Kabul International Airport. “During the talks, the two sides will discuss comprehensive bilateral relations and focus on ways to deepen cooperation in various fields,” the Foreign Office said, adding that the foreign minister will discuss issues of regional peace and stability. Will also share Pakistan’s point of view.
The visit follows a recent meeting of officials from China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Russia in Moscow. In addition, the visit assumes significance ahead of the meeting of foreign ministers of neighboring countries of Afghanistan and Russia to be held in Tehran next week.
