Sensex set a new record with a gain of more than 500 points in early trade

Mumbai, October 18 (Agency) Despite a weak global trend, the Sensex rose over 500 points in early trade on Monday on all-round buying. The BSE 30-share Sensex was trading at 61,817.49, up 511.54 points or 0.83 per cent, after touching an all-time high of 61,894.33 points. Similarly, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange rose 157.40 points, or 0.86 per cent, to 18,495.95 in early trade. At one point, it touched an all-time high of 18,521.10 points trading on the day. Among the Sensex companies, the stock of Infosys climbed more than two percent. Shares of Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Titan and IndusInd Bank were also gainers. On the other hand, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, Dr Reddy’s and HCL Tech were the losers. In the previous trading session on Thursday, the Sensex closed at 61,305.95, up 568.90 points or 0.94 per cent. Similarly, the Nifty closed at an all-time high of 18,338.55 points with a gain of 176.80 points or 0.97 per cent.
