New Delhi: There is big news about Aadhaar. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made a big announcement. This decision is going to have a direct impact on the public. Even if you have Aadhar card and don’t have it, it will affect you. Actually UIDAI plans to open 166 Aadhaar Enrollment and Update Centers in 122 cities of the country. Only Aadhar related work will be done at these centers. UIDAI has opened 55 Aadhaar Seva Kendras so far.

So far 70 lakh people have been given services. The move is part of UIDAI’s plan to open Aadhaar enrollment and update centers in 122 cities across the country. Only Aadhaar related work will be done at these centers. These centers are in addition to the 52,000 Aadhaar enrollment centers run by banks, post offices and state governments.

All these Aadhar Seva Kendras are open every day in a week and till now have provided their services to more than 70 lakh people including Divyangjan. It is noteworthy that the Model-A category centers have the capacity to handle one thousand enrollment and information updating applications every day.

Similarly, Model-B centers can have up to 500 enrollments and update information per day and Model-C centers can have up to 250 enrollments and information updates per day. All types of centers operate from 9 am to 5.30 pm. They are closed only on public holidays.

It is noteworthy that Aadhaar enrollment is free of cost, but a nominal fee of Rs 50 is charged for demographic updates and Rs 100 for biometric updates (with or without demographic updates).

Aadhaar Seva Kendras work through online appointment system and token management system. These systems keep citizens informed about all the stages of the enrollment/update process without any hassle. All the centers are air conditioned and designed with proper seating arrangement. All the centers are equipped with facilities for the handicapped.
