Actress Kangana Ranaut also did not appear in court on Tuesday in the criminal defamation case filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar. On this, the court said that if she does not appear on the next date of hearing on September 20, then a warrant will be issued against her. As soon as the hearing on the petition began, Kangana’s lawyer cited the actress’s unwell and requested her to be exempted from personal appearance. The lawyer filed a medical certificate and said that he started showing symptoms of corona while traveling for the promotion of the film. At the same time, Akhtar’s lawyer said that this is just an excuse to postpone the hearing of the case.
He said that since the summons was issued to him in February this year, Kangana has refused to appear before the court for one reason or the other. Metropolitan Magistrate RR Khan exempted Kangana from appearance for today and fixed September 20 for further hearing, giving a warning of warrant.
