Assam News: Big blow to Assam Congress, two-time MLA resigns, speculation of joining BJP

Nothing is going well for the Congress party at the present time. After the defeat in the Assam Assembly elections, the party has now suffered another major setback. An MLA of the main opposition Congress in Assam on Friday resigned from the primary membership of the party. Sushant Borgohain, who was elected twice from the Thaura assembly seat in Jorhat district in Assam, has sent his resignation to the newly-appointed Assam Congress president Bhupen Bora via email. On the other hand, in the political corridor, there is talk of him (Sushant Borgohain) joining BJP on August 1.

Newly-appointed Congress President Bhupen Bora on the resignation of MLA from Thaura seat of Assam, Bhupen Bora said that Borgohain has resigned due to the recent developments in the party. During this, Uborgohain has appreciated the opportunity given to him by the Congress.

There has been a break in the party before
This is not the first time that there has been a breakdown within the Congress in Assam. Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi had also resigned before Sushant Borgohain.
