Sensex rises over 400 points in early trade, Nifty crosses 15,750 | Navabharat

Mumbai: Leading stock index Sensex rose over 400 points in early trade on Thursday led by gains in big stocks like HDFC Bank, Infosys and ICICI Bank amid a positive trend in global markets. The 30-share BSE index was trading 444.17 points or 0.85 per cent higher at 52,642.68 during this period, while the broader NSE Nifty rose 129.15 points or 0.83 per cent to 15,761.25.

The biggest gain of three per cent in the Sensex was in Bajaj Finance. Apart from this, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, HUL, ICICI Bank and Infosys were also among the top gainers. On the other hand, Asian Paints, PowerGrid, Bajaj Auto and Dr Reddy’s saw a decline.

On Tuesday, the Sensex closed 354.89 points or 0.68 per cent lower at 52,198.51 in the previous session, while the broader NSE Nifty fell 120.30 points or 0.76 per cent to end at 15,632.10. The stock markets remained closed on Wednesday on account of Bakrid. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.40 per cent to $71.94 a barrel. (agency)
