Gizmochina’s report cites India Today citing that a Twitter user named @PriyankaPavra along with his younger brother had made the incident public through a tweet. This tweet was also tagged to the Redmi India Support Team. According to the tweet, he told that he bought the Redmi Note 9 Pro smartphone for his younger brother in December last year. At the same time, a few months later on April 28, this handset suddenly caught fire. Seeing the fire in the phone, his brother threw the phone in the water out of fear, so that a big accident would be averted.
Along with the tweet, Priyanka also tweeted two pictures of the phone. However, this tweet was deleted after some time.
Giving information on the matter, Xiaomi India said that the incident is being investigated, and preliminary investigation indicates that the damage in the phone is the cause of external force. Xiaomi blamed the customer responsible for the phone fire. However, the company is not drawing any conclusions before the investigation is completed.
