Kovid’s havoc on IPL: CSK-Royals match postponed after Balaji’s positive report

The Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings and (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday will now be held at a later date as bowling coach L Balaji found CSK positive for Kovid-19. Have to go through the tough quarantine.

According to the Board’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), if any person comes in contact with an infected person, they must remain on quarantine for six days and during this time three reports of their RT PCR should be negative.

An official of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) said on condition of confidentiality, ‘The match between CSK and Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium tomorrow will be held at later dates under SOP rules. Balaji came in contact with all the players and hence all of them have to live in strict isolation. They should be tested every day. ‘

When CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanathan was contacted, he said that CSK has informed BCCI about Balaji’s RT PCR result.


He said, ‘We have informed that Balaji’s test has come positive and as per SOP our players have gone on Quarantine. ‘

This is the second match in the IPL to be re-scheduled. Earlier on Monday, his match against Royal Challengers Bangalore was postponed after two Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrier were found positive. Delhi will host the match of Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad this evening.
